Kathrin Christians
born in 1984 she was awarded in 2013 a masters degree with distinction by Prof. Davide Formisano (University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart), in 2010 a master class diploma by Prof. Andràs Adorjàn (University of Music and Performing Arts Munich) and 2008 an artistic education diploma from Prof. Jean-Michel Tanguy (University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim).
In 2012 she won third prize at the "International Severino Gazzelloni Competition" in Roccasecca, Italy, in 2009 second prize at the “1st Mediterranean Flute Competition” in Larissa, Greece and several other international and national prizes.
She received scholarships from the Michael Röver Foundation and the Thy Chamber Music Festival. Her engagements include the SWR Orchestra Kaiserslautern, Gen Chamber Orchestra Tokyo, the Philharmonie der Nationen and the Borusan Symphony Orchestra Istanbul.
At the young age of 23 she was appointed principal flute of the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra (ICMA nominated in 2011) and the Mannheimer Mozartorchester (Grammy nominated in 2011) which she held for nearly 7 years.
In orchestras and as a soloist she has also performed at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Heidelberger Frühling, the Sylt Art Festival, at Salon.Budersand and the International Guitar festival in Bangkok.
Her concert tours include Europe, Asia and Africa.
