Described by The Epoch Times, “Corin Lee has that honesty—he plays the way he feels, and comfortably too.” He is an acoustic and electric violinist who incorporates technology into traditional classical music to push the limits of how music can be performed. He has performed his “musically marvelous” (Steve Reich) electronic arrangements in prestigious venues through the United States including Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium, The Juilliard School, The Marco Polo Festival, The Jewett Auditorium, Given Auditorium, The Harvard Cub of New York, and Sprague Hall at Yale University.
Mr. Lee has an active performance career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. As the winner of NTD-TV’s Chinese International Violin Competition, he has performed as a soloist in Merkin Concert Hall, the University of Reno-Nevada, with the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra, and Oakland Civic Orchestra. He has appeared as a chamber musician in venues including Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Auditorium, Columbia University’s St. Paul’s Chapel, Mary Flagler Cary Hall, and the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery. His performances have also been broadcast on Fox and NBC News.
As a recipient of the Alec Templeton Scholarship, Mr. Lee received the Boradus Erle Violin Prize and Masters of Music degree from Yale University with Ani Kavafian. He received his Bachelor of Music degree at The Juilliard School where he studied with Hyo Kang and Naoko Tanaka. Previous teachers include Cathryn Lee, Wei-He, and Dame Camilla Wicks. This upcoming year, he will be a fellow with the Yale Baroque Ensemble guided by Robert Mealy. Outside of performing, Mr. Lee runs Liberated Performer, a coaching program that helps musicians with performance anxiety.
